As Chicago Public School school psychologists and speech pathologists, Jenny and Joe, have been on the front lines in supporting Chicago youths throughout the community for years! Recently married, and ready to find a place that could fit both of them and their hobbies, they reached out to me to help them sell an Edgewater condo and buy a larger Lakeview condo. Fortunately, all the stars aligned, and they found the home they were looking for at the same time they were accepting an offer on their own place!
Jenny and Joe spend their days working beside children who face academic and emotional challenges, and experience – first hand – how difficulties in school and run-ins with the law are frequently tied in together. Because of this, they knew immediately that with their Real Estate with Purpose donation they wanted to support a cause that lowered delinquency rates through education via Literacy Volunteers of Illinois.
The Jump Start program at the Illinois Youth Centers strives to do just that by providing tutoring and mentoring services to incarcerated youth throughout Illinois. Did you know studies have shown that when juvenile offenders are provided with 100 hours of tutoring, the delinquency rates reduce to zero? It’s true! This turned out to be the perfect place to support with Jenny and Joe’s sizable donation.
Thank you, Dorothy at Literacy Volunteers of Illinois, for accepting our donation, and thank you Jenny and Joe, for choosing Real Estate with Purpose!
