Wicker Park
Overview
Few Chicago neighborhoods have seen more change over the past 10 years as Wicker Park real estate. Originally, Wicker Park was the northwest boundary of Chicago (North & Wood), and that tradition of being a fringe neighborhood carried on for well over 100 years. That being said, it has now come into its own over the years through a series of popular and now established businesses and new development along its main thoroughfare: Division Street.
In addition to the excitement and activity that runs along Division from Ashland to Western, Damen provides a north-south roadway that connects the neighborhood to Bucktown in the north, and then heads south to the United Center and I-290. Commuters to downtown can collect the Blue Line at Division or walk up to the Damen stop. Additionally, I-90/94 is along Division, a half mile east of Ashland.
Throughout the neighborhood you have an incredible mixture of establishments that cater almost exclusively to long-term residents and a new collection of bars and restaurants who provide an updated view of the neighborhoods offering. Additionally, you have access to some great local restaurants. For the BBQ enthusiast new to the area, Smoke Daddy is a ‘must-have’.
